Welcome to the John Ed Keeter Public Library’s Adult Education & Literacy program! Our mission is to enrich our city by providing a free, diversified, and accessible educational program for adults. We are thankful for the help of our many volunteer tutors in bringing this program to life.
We are currently offering classes and/or tutoring in:
- Adult Literacy (learn to read and write)
- English for speakers of other languages
- English Conversation
- GED
- US Citizenship Preparation
- Basic Spanish

Registration and Orientation
To register for Free Adult Literacy and Adult Basic Education classes, students must have an active Saginaw library card. Visit the Library to sign up for a free library card.
The ESL & Adult Literacy Classes are offered in semesters: Fall, Spring, and Summer. Students must register for the classes and attend an orientation session to participate in the semester.

Free Language-Learning Software
- For students who prefer to learn English on their own or would like to practice outside of class, we have dedicated computer stations at the Library with language-learning software.
- Pronunciator is available 24/7 on your computer or phone with a Saginaw library card number.

Citizenship
Citizenship test preparation is also available through Pronunciator. Choose "English (American)" as the language you want to study, then choose the ProCitizen course. Pronunciator can be accessed at home or in the Library.

GED and High School Equivalency Resources
Aztec GED Online Study Program
Students will need to contact a tutor to learn about the Aztec GED online study program. Aztec is accessible 24/7 wherever you have internet access. No email account is needed, but a meeting with a tutor will be needed to ensure each student trained on how to use the new Aztec online program.
GED tutors are available at the Library every Saturday from 1-3 pm.
LearningExpress Library
Login to TexShare Databases, then select LearningExpress Library.
Visit the Saginaw library or call 817.230.0300 option 8 to have a librarian provide you the username and password to the TexShare Databases. The LearningExpress Library offers access to over 800 online practice tests. You can prepare for professional certification in civil service, law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, military nursing and teaching through available eBooks and practice exams. Prepare for college and graduate school admissions with practice tests for: SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, and LSAT.
A GED practice test is also available.
