The Welcome to Saginaw monument sign, located at Bus. 287 and Industrial, was constructed in 1998. Over the years, the heavy train and truck traffic on either side have caused structural damage and the sign needed to be replaced. Contractors were solicited to provide estimates for removing and replacing the sign. On April 6th, the Beautification Committee reviewed the quotes and recommended "Ware Fencing" do the work. The new sign has piers and a reinforced foundation to improve structural integrity. The new sign was also raised to 2.5 feet above the ground to improve visibility over the flower bed area and will have new LED lighting. The City Council approved the expenditure of $14,103.61 for the project.
