After 41 years of authentic and dedicated service to the citizens of Saginaw, Texas, City Manager Nan Stanford is retiring.
Mrs. Stanford began working for the City part-time from June 1973 to July 1974. Her responsibilities included customer service, utility billing, property tax collection, issuing building and miscellaneous permits, municipal court fine collections, and assisting the Library as needed.
In 1976, she was hired full-time for the position of Payroll and Accounts Payable Clerk and Recording Secretary to the City Council. She was promoted to Office Manager in January 1981 and Finance Director in October 1988. In May 1995, she was promoted to Assistant City Manager and Finance Director.
Mrs. Stanford was appointed City Manager on September 12, 1999 and over the years has served the city in various capacities. She is responsible for over 150 full-time and part-time employees and an annual budget of over $30 million.
Her honest, servant leadership will be greatly missed as she moves to the next chapter of her life. City Manager Stanford’s last day with the City of Saginaw is July 7, 2017. Thank you Mrs. Stanford.
