Bailey Boswell Road Construction - Update October 24, 2018
In recent weeks, Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroads were coordinating a traffic switch-over at Saginaw Boulevard. The coordination involved the Texas Department of Transportation and the City’s street contractor JLB Construction. The switch-over required multiple steps where old signal equipment would be utilized to provide traffic control at the railroad crossings.
Late in the process, Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroads elected to delay their work until new signal equipment could be procured and installed apparently due to safety concerns. Currently, all interested parties are working through the steps to complete the switch-over allowing traffic to be moved to the new pavement on the east and westbound lanes.
It appears now that the soonest date for the switch-over to occur is late November. In the interim, JLB is continuing to complete paving gaps in the remainder of the project. The City of Saginaw will endeavor to provide information as it becomes available. We thank you for your patience.
