General Obligation Bonds Issued at Record Low Interest Rates

Last night the City Council unanimously approved the issuance of $9M of voter-approved bonds. These bonds were issued at a record low interest rate of 1.59%!

Projects funded in the upcoming fiscal year will include architectural design for a new library and senior center and reconstruction of Knowles between Edwards and Woodcrest. This section of Knowles has significant drainage issues that will be improved with a new storm sewer system.

The design process for the new library and senior center will include public meetings with architects so that the facilities reflect the desires of the people they will serve.

The City of Saginaw carries a strong credit rating, which is due to sound financial management policies and excellent city staff.

The planning for these projects reflects years in the making and involved the dedicated work of our Citizens Bond Committee.
