Fire Station No. 1
History
Fire Station No. 1 was originally built in 1974, and was operated through the highly dedicated service of volunteer firefighters. Through the years the station has went through numerous renovations and an eventual transition to a fully paid career department.
In 2007, the facility went through a major renovation and expansion. The expansion was made possible due to the adjoining Police Department relocating to new facilities. The Fire Station is now a 10,000 square foot first class facility with a commercial grade kitchen / dining area, sleeping and restroom accommodations for up to six on-duty personnel, a well equipped exercise area, offices, and a common day / congregation room.
Fire Administration Offices
The recently vacated and adjoining Police Department was built in 1966, and originally served as the City's Municipal Building simultaneously housing City Hall, the Police Department, and the City Library. This 6,000 square foot portion of the facility also underwent major renovations and now houses the fire administration offices, the Tarrant County Fire Alarm Center (TCFAC), the City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and a large multimedia equipped training room.
The fire station, the TCFAC, and the EOC are equipped with back-up generator power to ensure the department and its personnel can continuously manage, coordinate, and respond to all emergencies under any conditions. This 16,000 square foot (combined) facility will serve the needs of the Fire Department for many years and is designed to accommodate any future growth within the department.
