Job Summary:
Work is performed under the supervision of the Library Director. Performs library work of average difficulty organizing and reshelving library materials and providing service to the public. Performs related work as required.

Essential Job Functions:
Performs shelving tasks as assigned. Sorts, organizes, and shelves books in precise alphabetical or numerical order. Conducts periodic checks and maintenance on all shelved materials, making sure items are in accurate order and neatness at all times. Checks in items from book drops. Assists patrons in locating various items or other areas of the library. Performs other related duties as required.

Adheres to assigned work schedule and ensures all behaviors comply with the City and Library policies.

Other Job Functions:
Searches for and pulls reserved or missing library materials. Identifies damaged materials to be repaired. Performs various housekeeping duties as required to maintain library facility. 

Required Education, Degrees, Certificates, and/or License:
High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma preferred.

Experience, Training, Knowledge and Skills:
Library work experience preferred. Knowledge of basic library services, functions, and organization required. Knowledge of alphabetical and numeric organizational systems required. Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System preferred. Exceptional organizational and detail-oriented skills are required. Customer service skills are required. Must be able to work in a public setting with people of all ages. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely orally, in writing, and by phone. Job Summary

Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Chief Mechanic.  Performs maintenance and repairs for various vehicles, trucks, and equipment for all departments.  Performs related work as required. Subject to after hours call back, as needed.  May be expected to come in early or work late as needed.

Performs routine maintenance and required repair on cars, light trucks, medium duty trucks, fire equipment, and such equipment used in the performance of duties for all departments, such as backhoes, tractors, mowers, loaders, etc.  Also performs maintenance and repair on small engines, pumps, weed eaters, generators, chainsaws, etc.  Ability to read and understand technical information and repair manuals.  Performs repairs on autos, trucks, and heavy equipment.  Diagnose all phases of malfunctions such as electrical, engine, drive train, and associated equipment.  Writes service orders and keeps records of repairs and repair costs.  Does minor repair welding.  Uses various types of test equipment.  Make road calls and repairs in the field.  Drives truck to and from job.  Will be expected to learn to drive all city vehicles and learn to operate all city equipment, including heavy equipment.  Abides by all safety rules and procedures. 

Work is performed primarily in a shop environment; occasional field environment with travel from site to site; exposure dust, grease, fumes, loud noise and all types of weather and temperature conditions.  Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.  Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility; walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl, reach, twist, climb, descend from ladders/equipment, and push, pull, move, lift, and/or carry moderate to heavy objects.

Works with other City departments as needed.

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma, one-year general fleet maintenance and repair experience preferred.  Valid Texas Driver’s License.  Willing to learn repair of different types of equipment.  ASE certified preferred but not required for employment.  Will be expected to pass two ASE certifications within two years of hire date, which includes completing and passing all study guides in a prompt manner.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLSKnowledge of methods of repairing and maintaining automotive and heavy equipment, gasoline and diesel engines and related components is required.  Experience in flat repair, oil changes, brake replacement, and tune up on electronic engine controls is a necessity.  Experience with scanners (OTC) required.  Ability to read and write, and to use auto test equipment.  Ability to use special tools and understand test manuals.  Ability to perform minor welding.  Personal computers experience preferred.

No jewelry will be worn on the job due to safety reasons.  Wedding rings will be allowed except in unfavorable conditions as designated by the chief mechanic.
