Resolving Citations

You are required to appear at the Saginaw Municipal Court on or before the 21st business day from the date your citation was issued; the due date is noted at the bottom of your citation. Please wait 2 to 3 business days before contacting the court to allow time for processing.

If you have been released on bond, your appearance date is set on the bond notice given.

Failure to appear may result in additional charges being filed and possibly warrants issued for your arrest.

If you are a juvenile (under the age of 17 for traffic citations, under 21 on tobacco or alcohol-related citations, etc.) please refer to the juvenile information page for how to handle your citations.

Payment in Full – If you wish to enter a guilty plea, contact the court for the standard fine for the offense committed. You may pay in person, online, or mail a payment to the City of Saginaw Municipal Court. Payments are accepted in the form of cash, money order, debit/credit card (Visa or Mastercard only; there is a 3.5% processing fee for card transactions). If you choose to mail your remittance, complete the plea and waiver section on the bottom of the citation and send in with the payment; or you may complete a separate plea form (available online) to mail in with your payment.

Online payments must be paid in full and will be reported as a conviction on your driving record to DPS. Deferred disposition and driving safety course fees are not payable online. Depending on your qualifications these options may be available to you but an appearance in person, on or before your due date, to the municipal court is required.

Warrant payments made online after 04:00 p.m. Monday-Friday will be cleared on the next business day.

Plea ‘Not Guilty’ or ‘No Contest’ – If you wish to plead not guilty of the offense as charged, you must appear before the Saginaw Municipal Court Judge. You must appear at on or before your due date to set a court date. If the citation goes into warrant, you must post a cash bond in order to secure a court date. If fines are assessed, you are required to make payment immediately following your court setting; unless other stipulations are set by the judge.

Extensions – If you are unable to pay the full amount, you may request either a 30-day extension or a payment plan. Extensions must be requested in person at municipal court. Note: there is a $15 fee assessed for each violation if payment plan extends beyond 30-days.

The City of Saginaw Municipal Court continues to be a Safe Harbor Court, which means that anyone may appear in court at any time to resolve their outstanding cases without the fear of being arrested for warrants.
